RGB LAN x CHARITY

Supporting charity is a huge part of what makes RGB LAN special as a BYOC LAN. Find out why in this blog post!

Charity in Our Roots

Since the beginning, we’ve wanted to make charity support a core part of our identity.

We love the Greater Philly area, and we know the gaming community has the capacity to play a huge role in spreading awareness and raising money for worthy local causes.

That’s why we decided that part of what would make RGB LAN stand out is our commitment to choosing three local charities to support with every single event.

We’re a 100% volunteer-run event with a team of dedicated and passionate people who devote their time to making RGB LAN a welcoming place to be.

Instead of making money for ourselves, the funds raised at RGB LAN events exclusively benefit local nonprofits.

We think the charity part of RGB LAN is really special, and we know you do, too—you’ve proven it to us time and time again by not just supporting our local charities but also by fully engaging with the charities during each event. You’ve shared charity causes on social, connected in-person with charity reps at RGB LAN events, and amplified their missions every year.

Competition for a Cause

Who doesn’t love a little friendly competition? That’s been a part of RGB LAN from the very beginning, too—but why not combine mayhem with charity support?

That’s exactly what we did. We paired each RGB LAN color team with their own charity. As teams compete for points before and during RGB LAN events, they propel their team to the top of the charts.

And the more points their team earns, the more money their team’s charity receives at the end of the event.

Yep – We’re a Charity, Too!

From the very beginning, we’ve made supporting local charities part of the identity at RGB LAN. But we’re also a charity ourselves!

RGB LAN is a nonprofit, which means that everything you do when you attend and support RGB LAN events directly benefits multiple local charities—including ours.

That also means you can make a tax-deductible donation to support the event and our mission.

Because we’re volunteer-run, donations make a really big difference. When you donate, you help us cover our operating costs so we can keep holding this event year after year.

Anything we raise in donations for RGB LAN beyond what we need to operate goes directly into the charity pool for the next event.

Gaming to Give Back with LANFest

RGB LAN is a proud LANFest chapter. So as if you didn’t have enough charity support in the mix as an RGB LAN attendee, each event supports not just three local charities and RGB LAN but also an even larger charity network dedicated to gaming for good.

LANFest supports healthy and welcoming gaming communities with events that bring people together to share their passion. They believe it’s a strong and important feeling when you feel closely connected to other people and socially supported.

Gaming together can create a community that does just that: allows people to feel like they are welcome, they belong, they’re valued, and their presence makes a positive difference.

LANFest communities stretch across the country! Check out upcoming events for other chapters on the LANFest website: https://lanfest.com/events/
